
WE all get overwhelmed, caught in emotional storms, get sad or mad…
I used to feel this way at least once a month!
Now when the waves come up, I move through them very differently…
Below is the “formula” I use & offer my clients when they get VERY overwhelmed:
1. Focus on the energy, rather than the thoughts that might race because of the strong emotions. Feel THE SENSATIONS in the body as the energy you need to work with & pull away from your head. Stop all stories, guesses or pondering other people’s intentions. *if you’re energy sensitive — pull back from reading others’ energy.
2. Breath – slow and calm and in the Core (1-2 inches under the belly button).
3. Self soothing: be compassionate to the (seemingly big) part of you that is going through this – you might see her/him as an inner child, a part that got triggered, etc. Acknowledge the emotions (fear: anxiety, panic, nerves, worry) with an intention of observing it with kindness and patience.
4. Do not buy into the drama nor suppress the experience. Everyone feels anxious now and again, it does not mean the end of the world even if this is extremely uncomfortable
5. Ask Higher Power (Universe/God) for support with this. Then use any technique to process/release the energy that came up in you: Hawkin’s Letting Go, energy work, Higher Power to take it away, EFT, etc.
6. If you are still overwhelmed, then explore deeper by asking:
‘Is this a familiar feeling and state of being?’
‘Where do I recall it from?’
It will always be from the past: childhood, ancestry, etc.
7. Reframe: reminder yourself that you WERE young or vulnerable then, now you are older & wiser. These emotions are simply an energetic imprint and an old way of coping with what felt overpowering then.
You are more mature & capable now, so you can see things as they are, rather than through the lens of how they were. You choose peace & to complete the past, to release this energy.
8. Ask for Clarity & Support from the Higher Power. Use techniques you know or feel guided to let go again.
*Stay POSITIVE & PATIENT. Reassure yourself that this will resolve into your natural next stage where you are at peace soon, yet it may take some time to shift to 100% as some experiences take hours and occasionally days to complete, but it will!
